Abstract
«Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk» is an essay about the female fate of N. S. Leskov. The tyrant is mainly the main character of the work-Katerina Izmailova, a woman who dreamed of love. This is a sinner who has violated one of God’s ten commandments – «thou shalt not kill». Our task is to examine this commandment in more detail, compare the actions of Katerina Lvovna with the sins of the sixth commandment and prove its sinfulness. Our main goal is to find out the reason for all the crimes of Katerina Izmailova.
