The image of Russia in Russian as foreign language textbooks

Abstract

The article analyzes the image of Russia presented in textbooks of Russian as a foreign language (RFL). The author examines how cultural, historical, and social aspects of the country are reflected in educational materials and assesses their impact on the perceptions of foreign students. Special attention is paid to stereotyping, insufficient geographical and ethnocultural representation, and the lack of modern realities in textbooks. Based on a survey of foreign students, key issues are identified, and ways to improve educational materials are proposed to create a more balanced and up-to-date image of Russia.
