Abstract
The article is devoted to the study of the mechanisms of author-reader communication in the novels "Demons" by F. Dostoevsky and "At knives" by N. Leskov in the context of socio-historical and ideological transformations of the second half of the 19th century. Particular attention is paid to rhetorical strategies, narrative structures and communicative models that determine the interaction between the author and the reader. The article examines the features of polyphony in Dostoevsky's prose, which allows the reader to be involved in an active dialogue, and Leskov's didactic monologue, which forms the moral and ethical orientation of the literary text. The analysis emphasizes the differences in the author's intentions associated with the perception of nihilism and reveals the specifics of the communicative attitude of each writer.
