Abstract
The article considers the root word-forming nest with historical *mьrk-/mork and the peculiarities of the lexicon that composes it. The reasons for the nest disintegration are given, the alternations *mьrk-/mork- with examples of dialect words are considered, the origin of this nest is explained, the territories where people use its lexical elements are listed. The spheres in which the words composing the root word-forming nest *mьrk-/mork- are used are analyzed. The main idea of the article is that the nest *mork-/mьrk- has an ancient origin, words with this root have different meanings relating to different spheres of human life, and exist in the language until now.
