Abstract
This article studies the problem of the representation of distant lexical repetition as a cohesive device in the translation of a literary text. The aim of the article is to identify distant lexical repetitions and assess their contribution to the fulfilment of the authorial intent. The material of the study is G. Swift’s short story "Wonders Will Never Cease" published in 2014 in the collection "England and Other Stories". We believe that distant lexical repetition reveals not only cohesion, but also coherence of the text, and in combination with other cohesive devices contributes to the authorial intent.
