Abstract
The article discusses the specifics of using color images in V. Nabokov's stories written in the first half of the 1920s. The tendency to emphasize the role of color, the variety of shades, characteristic of the entire work of the writer, originates in his early works and is largely the result of the writer's special worldview, his personality traits and life events. Thanks to the statistical method, 13 color groups were identified, and the frequency of their use was established. The paper analyzes the semantics and symbolism of colors and shades found in stories.
