Abstract
the article provides an analysis of the professionally oriented linguistic personality of a foreign student according to the model of Y.N. Karaulov. It reflects the level of development of the secondary linguistic personality at the verbal-semantic, thesaurus and motivational levels. Analysis of the formation of various language competencies level is performed. Language gaps are identified. The author concludes that the intercultural competence of a student for whom the study of the Russian language is not a goal, but a tool for professional self-improvement is formed.
